I Love Luxury

When people see displays of luxury, they always reiterate that you do need money to be happy. They aren’t completely wrong. Material things can spark great joy. I argue that they’d be nothing without the tiny moments that we write off with each passing day. Luxury is born out of routine activities. Whether it’s working for a reward or working to mute the reminder of your responsibilities, they’re both founded on intention.
I love luxury. My lifestyle is a testament to it.
I love every small detail that offers me a life of ease.
I love Gucci, I love Prada. I love Tiffany’s and David Yurman, too. But those are material things, they aren’t the focus of this special admiration.
I love long walks and forgetting the moments passing by as my feet beat the trail.
I love sleeping in. Rolling back and forth as I fall in and out of sleep.
I love cooking. Choosing each ingredient and pouring my energy into its preparation because that’s what makes my body feel good. Being led by my ancestors as I mix flavor combinations that I’ll soon dream about.
I love spontaneity. Waking up with no plans used to bring me stress. Now I know the joy of choosing your next move on a whim. Letting each present moment inspire the next.
I love support. I load my plate until I’ve lost track of each layer. And should they fall, I know there’s help, in my corner, to pick up the pieces. That reassurance gives me the confidence to dream big.
I love exploring. Jumping in with full force without having to contemplate the risk. Taking a leap because I know the foundation beneath me is strong.
I love peace. Peace of mind and peace within my heart are among my greatest values. There’s nothing like flowing through the day without the expectation of chaos. I realize that triggers are inevitable, but my next move is entirely up to me.
Experiences and materials have infiltrated the definition of luxury.
Bags with price tags the size of a car have become the creme de la creme. Shoes that only lie at the end of the deepest hunt get the recognition that the intangible won’t. Everyday experiences that have been decorated with expensive gimmicks receive the most praise.
The moments that require no money and little effort get written off as mundane. In reality, they’re the most important.
Extravagant gifts lose their sentiment without shared memories. Yet we write off the experience of creating love and idolize the idea of being showered in gifts.
Luxury is created in the display of care and consideration. Luxury is born in the hard work you put in.
Luxury is nothing without intention. Intention from my previous self. Intention from those who love me.
Respect for my values is the basis for my life of luxury. Commitment and upholding my priorities frees me to spend more time loving what I do.
We conceptualize luxury as something that just falls in our lap. A privilege that’s bestowed upon the lucky ones. That’s the case in some circumstances. but everyday luxury is established through our everyday choices. We’re the authors of our story; we choose.
Song of the Post:
Oh, how I love Solange. She can be a lady of few words, depending on the track. Her ability to create an aura without actual lyrics is true artistry. Binz creates space for every idea of luxury. The tangible and the intangible.
